Top 3 NIHL players of week three
1. Ross Venus
Our number one star of the week is Ross Venus who dominated for the MK Lightning in their four-point-weekend. On Saturday he had a five point night in MK’s 6-3 victory against the Bees. He scored one and assisted four. Then on Sunday he stepped up again scoring two big goals to help the Lighting to a 7-3 victory against a tough Solway Sharks side. He becomes the Lightning’s top point scorer and in the top 10 of the NIHL.
2. Adam Laishram
Our second star of the weekend is the player coach of the Romford Raiders who stepped up and helped his team secure a four point weekend. On the Saturday night he scored two goals away in Bristol and assisted another helping the Raiders to a 8-3 win. Then on Sunday he coached his team to a fantastic 5-4 overtime comeback against the Hull Seahawks. The Canadian scored and assisted on the night taking his total to five points for the weekend. The Raiders are unbeaten at home and have won 4/5 to start the season.
3. Liam Stenton
Our third star is the Solway Sharks captain who had a brilliant weekend. Liam led his team to a emphatic 9-3 win at home against the Telford Tigers where he also scored in the game. The Sharks then narrowly lost to the Lightning in Milton Keynes on Sunday night where Stenton also scored in the game. The Sharks have been a much improved team and with Stenton being the new captain he has had a big impact on the Scottish side.
Honourable Mentions- There we’re many players who could have also been on the list. Marcel Balaz scored four goals on Sunday night to help the Bees win against the Tigers. Phantoms goalie Hayden Lavinge also had a great weekend getting a 0.91 save percentage in both games this weekend.
