Basingstoke Bison Statement
Spearheading this exciting new chapter is the newly appointed management team of Steve Nell and Rob Firmin, both respected figures in British ice hockey with decades of combined experience in the sport.
The return of the Bison marks a pivotal moment for ice hockey fans in Basingstoke and beyond, as preparations are now underway to rebuild a competitive and community-driven team that reflects the spirit of the town and the legacy of the club.
“I’m pleased to be involved in bringing the Bison back to the NIHL National League for the 25/26 season,” said Nell. “I’m looking forward to the challenge of establishing the Bison as a competitive team within the league. There’s a lot of work to do, but the journey starts now.”
The focus in the coming weeks will be on recruiting a head coach and building the player roster for the upcoming season. Additionally, the club is eager to reconnect with its loyal network of volunteers and supporters who have played a crucial role over the past decade.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Planet Ice for giving us the platform to take the Bison into the next era. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Bison Director John Neville for his years of dedication and hard work in creating a great community hockey club. His efforts have laid a strong foundation that we are proud to build upon.
The Bison are calling on those who want to be a part of this exciting revival – whether on the ice or behind the scenes:
