Phantoms Retain Star Imports but Bid Farewell to Record-Breaking Forward!
The club has secured the return of NIHL 2025/26 All-Star Janne Laakkonen, who will enter his third season with the Phantoms. The experienced 44-year-old once again proved his quality last season, registering an outstanding 111 points. Laakkonen's vision and playmaking ability were on full display as he recorded an incredible 93 assists, cementing his status as one of the league's elite players.
Joining him in returning for another season is Dillon Lawrence, who enjoyed a superb debut campaign in Peterborough following his move from MK Lightning. Lawrence quickly became a key offensive contributor, scoring 76 points throughout the season, including an impressive 42 goals. His ability to find the back of the net made him one of the Phantoms' most dangerous forwards, and supporters will be delighted to see him back in the lineup for 2026/27.
While there is plenty of excitement surrounding the returning imports, the Phantoms will also be saying goodbye to Cam Hough, who is set to take on a new challenge outside of the NIHL.
Hough leaves the club after a historic season in which he etched his name into the record books. The forward set a new record for the most goals scored in a regular NIHL season, finding the net an incredible 64 times. He also surpassed the 100-point mark and earned recognition as part of the NIHL First All-Star Team, underlining his impact throughout the campaign.
Although Hough's departure will leave a significant void, the returns of Laakkonen and Lawrence provide the Phantoms with a strong foundation as they look ahead to another competitive season.
With two of their key imports secured and preparations for 2026/27 already underway, Peterborough fans will be eagerly anticipating what promises to be another exciting year on the ice.
