Phantoms sign Ewan Hill and Dom Gabaj!
Ewan Hill joins the Phantoms at 23 years old following an impressive spell with the Romford Raiders. No stranger to the NIHL National or to Planet Ice Peterborough, Hill notably showcased his offensive ability with a recent hat-trick against the Phantoms, underlining the threat he poses in attacking areas. His junior career saw him develop through systems in Invicta, Chelmsford and Romford, before stepping into senior hockey with the Raiders in 2018/19. He made an immediate impact, recording 46 points in 21 games across the Raiders U18s and Romford Buccaneers in his debut senior season.
Hill also gained valuable experience overseas during the 2021/22 season, icing in Sweden’s second division with Sollefteå HK, where he registered 15 points in 18 games. After returning to England, he had a brief stint with Streatham before rejoining Romford, where strong performances with the Buccaneers earned him a move to the Bristol Pitbulls. Despite a challenging season for the club, Hill contributed 29 points in 49 games, demonstrating consistency and resilience.
Last season marked Hill’s most productive campaign in the NIHL National to date, as he tallied 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points in 47 games with Romford. His continued development and ability to contribute offensively made him a sought-after addition, and he will now make the move to Peterborough for the upcoming season. Head Coach Ashley Tait highlighted Hill’s finishing ability and physical edge as key attributes that will strengthen the Phantoms’ forward group.
Dominik Gabaj arrives in Peterborough as one of the NIHL National’s most established and consistent offensive performers. The 33-year-old Slovakian forward joins from the Milton Keynes Lightning, having accumulated over 500 points during his time in England. Known for his ability to produce in all situations, Gabaj has been a leading contributor for his teams in recent seasons, bringing both experience and leadership to the Phantoms lineup.
Gabaj began his career in Slovakia with Slovan Bratislava before spending five years in North America, where he played for the Idaho Jr. Steelheads, Monroe Community College and Nazareth College. He later moved to Europe, featuring in France for Tours and Neuilly-sur-Marne, as well as spells with Brest, Meudon and Caen. His career has also included time in New Zealand with the Newcastle Northstars, showcasing a breadth of international experience prior to settling in England over the past five years.
During the 2025/26 season, Gabaj led Milton Keynes Lightning in scoring with 31 goals and 58 assists for 89 points in 54 games, underlining his continued offensive impact. His move to Peterborough also sees him reunite with Head Coach Ashley Tait, with whom he previously worked at the Berkshire Bees. Tait praised Gabaj’s all-around game and reliability, noting his ability to contribute at both ends of the ice as a major asset for the Phantoms heading into the new campaign.
