The Bison Return Home This Weekend!

The Bison Return Home This Weekend!
Two years, six months and twenty days, or simply 934 days, have passed since the Basingstoke Bison last played on home ice.

That game was the home leg of their 2022/23 play-off tie against the Leeds Knights, a highly emotional evening that was described at the time as the Last Dance.

Bison fans, the day that many feared would never come is here. The long wait is almost over.

On Saturday 18th October 2025, Basingstoke Bison will return home for a National League game when we welcome Solway Sharks.

The face-off in what is likely to be a highly excitable Silverdome Arena will be at 6.30 pm.

Our new management team has been working extremely hard to put together a competitive team for the 2025/26 Planet Ice National Ice Hockey League season (PINIHL).

A new era in the history of Basingstoke Bison brings a new head coach, Jeff Flanagan, who previously served as assistant to the then-coach Mark Bernard in the 2004/05 season.

As fans eagerly anticipate watching the new roster in action on home ice for the first time, let's begin by welcoming our Canadian imports, Max Wright, Zach Shankar, Luke Spadafora and Brendan Sellan.

Also new to Basingstoke, but not necessarily new to the fans, are former Bees Will Stead and Adam Erskine, along with Tom Relf, signed from Romford Raiders.

Without doubt, fans of the Stampede will be thrilled to see the return of old favourites Stuart Mogg, Brendan Baird, Alex Sampford, George Norcliffe, Adam Harding, Zack Milton, Hallam Wilson and Liam Morris, who recently said “it feels a bit like getting the band back together”.

Coach Flanagan has gathered an exciting group of ‘young guns’ in the form of Stanley Johnston, whose hockey career began in Guildford, and Marcus Bradley, who was part of the Bison U16 and U18 teams during the 2021/22 season. Highly promising 22-year-old net minder Will Bray has joined us on a two-way deal with EIHL side Coventry Blaze.

More familiar to fans of the Stampede will be Ollie Hemmings-Maher (on a two-way with Slough Jets), Roman Cathcart (two-way with Streatham) and his older brother Ty Cathcart, as these 3 were part of the Bison junior programme.

The most recent signing announcement (5th September) was 21-year-old Evan Nauth, a product of the Guildford junior programme. Evan has spent the previous 5 seasons playing in the Canadian junior leagues.

The coach, players and off-ice staff are prepared, so now it's up to you, the fans; it's time to fill the stands and rebuild the Wall of Sound.

Let’s go, Bison, let’s go.
