NIHL Week 3 Review
Steeldogs 5-6 Sharks
The Scottish side picked up their first win of the season with a fantastic five goal second period to defeat the Steeldogs who lost their third home game on the bounce. Derek Osik and Dylan Stewart both getting a goal and two assists.
Raiders 3-4 Knights
Four different Goalscorers for the Knights saw them edge out a narrow victory against the Raiders. Fin Bradon starting the season very strong and scoring the game winning goal on the night.
Wildcats 4-3 Seahawks
Despite going 2-0 down, the Cats battled back with three power-play goals to maintain their 100% record. Aaron Nell scored his first goal of the season which turned out to be the game winner. Tough start for Hull who were still looking for their first win.
Pitbulls 2-3 (OT) Steeldogs
The two sides could not be separated after 60 minutes of hockey. And it would be Kyle Watson who popped up with a huge overtime winner to get the Steeldogs back winning ways.
Lightning 8-4 Phantoms
The home side stormed to a comfortable victory against their rivals. Toms Rutkis scored an impressive hat-trick on the night in front of over 2400 fans, the highest of the season so far!
Knights 5-2 Raiders
Back-to-back four point weekends for Ryan Aldridge side with Matt Bissonnette being the star of the show with a hat-trick on the night. A big bounce back from a tough first weekend.
Seahawks 9-2 Sharks
Matty Davies team secured their first win of the season with a dominant 9-2 win. Four point night for Emil Svec and another two goals for Bobby Chamberlain whose tally is now seven.
Phantoms (OT) 2-1 Wildcats
The Wildcats would drop their first point of the season in a tight game against the Phantoms with both by goalies being the standouts, Hayden Lavinge with 48/49 saves on the night and Tom Norton scoring the overtime winner.
Tigers 9-4 Pitbulls
Tom Watkins’ Tigers continued their electric form with another rampant victory. David Thomson with another two goals on the night. The Canadian now has 17 points in just five games, leading the league in points.
