Romford Raiders #29 Jake Sylvester
The DRS review requested by Sheffield Steeldogs is upheld.
A DRS review was requested of an incident during the 2ndperiod of the game at approx. 32:00 of the Romford Raidersand Sheffield Steeldogs game.
Romford #29 was skating up the ice towards the Sheffield Defensive zone, as he closed onto the blue line Sheffield #11 closed the gap and #29 played the puck past the Sheffield player, he then changed lanes to skate inside the Sheffield defender and as he did swapped his stick position over the Sheffield player which made contact with the players face causing an injury.
This play was an attempt to play the puck and not the player and was deemed carless but still caused reckless endangerment causing injury requiring medical intervention.
This incident is still to be penalised under Rule 60 High sticking, as a player must be in control of their stick at all times.
60.4. MAJOR PENALTY AND GAME MISCONDUCT PENALTY
The Referee, at their discretion, may assess a major penalty and an automatic game misconduct penalty if, in their judgment, the Player recklessly endangers their opponent by “high-sticking”. Such assessment of reckless endangerment shall be based on the severity of the infraction, severity of the contact, the degree of violence and the general reprehensibility involved
The player will be suspended for 1 game and 0 points will be added to his playing record.
