NIHL Pre-Season Recap Week 2
Leeds Knights Vs Sheffield Steeldogs
On Friday night the Steeldogs hosted the Knights in front of over 1300 fans and they were treated with a great game with Slava’s side winning 4-1, with Bair Gendunov scoring another two goals on the night.
Then on Sunday was another cracker with the Knights getting their revenge in overtime! Mac Howlett with the game winning goal sending the Castle into eruption. Certainly looking competitive ready for next weekend.
Swindon Wildcats Vs Telford Tigers
The Wildcats stormed to a 5-2 victory on Saturday night with Owen Griffiths scoring his first goal back in a Wildcats jersey. Ben Clarke-Leach getting his first home start in net for the Cats.
However on Sunday it would be the Tigers who got the victory with Henderson and Thomson putting on show. Three goals in the second period were enough to lead the Tigers to a 4-3 win.
Hull Seahawks Vs Solway Sharks
With the Sharks rink currently being updated, they faced the Seahawks twice in Hull. Game one on Saturday saw the Matty Davies side pick up a 5-2 win however new Sharks imports: Derek Osik and Dylan Stewart were both on the scoresheet.
Then on Sunday the Seahawks continued their dominance at home with a 9-3 victory. New Canadian forward, Jordy Stallard scored twice with Noah Kääriäinen grabbing three points on the night.
Bristol Pitbulls Vs Basingstoke Bison
With the Basingstoke rink finishing off the final touches it would be two games in Bristol between the two sides. And it would be the Bison who edged a 4-2 victory with new Canadian defensemen, Zak Shankar scoring and assisting twice on the night.
The Bison would then make it two for two with another close victory. Despite going 3-2 down, the Bison fought back to win 5-3 where Luke Spadafora scored twice, his first goals for the Bison.
Romford Raiders Vs Peterborough Phantoms
And finally a double header between sides who both have new coaches this season. The Phantoms put on a show on the road, winning 8-2 where new Canadian, Dillon Lawrence scored a hat-trick on the night.
The Phantoms then carried that momentum over to Sunday at home, winning 5-1 on the night. Five different Goalscorers for Ash Tait’s side including 18 year-old Louie Kynaston.
