Ales Padelek Becomes Bristol Pitbulls Head Coach
The Drive Bristol North Pitbulls are delighted to confirm that Czech international Ales Padelek has been appointed as the club’s new Head Coach.

At last night’s fan event, supporters were treated to a series of exciting announcements, including the unveiling of the club’s new title sponsor, Drive Bristol North, and the launch of the Pitbulls’ fresh new jerseys for the upcoming campaign. The evening concluded with the official announcement of Ales Padelek as the man chosen to lead the team from behind the bench.

Ales is no stranger to British ice hockey. Having starred for the Peterborough Phantoms and Slough Jets, he was one of the league’s most prolific scorers for several seasons. Before his time in the UK, the Czech native enjoyed a successful career back home and represented his country at international level.

On the international stage, Padelek collected a silver medal with his national team before heading to England, where he became a proven winner — lifting the NIHL League title twice and securing two NIHL Cup victories. These team triumphs add to a decorated career full of individual accolades and achievements.

Ales developed an interest in coaching while assisting with the Phantoms, eventually becoming a player-coach for the Nottingham Lions, where he helped guide a young squad to a successful season. Fans may remember Paddy stepping in last season here in Bristol during suspension issues, immediately having a positive influence on the team. He now takes the Head Coach role in Bristol, bringing a wealth of knowledge, skill, and passion that will be vital in shaping the future of the Pitbulls.

Richie H, Director of Hockey, said: “I’m really excited to add the final piece to the Pitbulls roster with Ales coming in as Head Coach. He’s a player who’s competed at all levels, has incredible experience, and brings a different approach to our set-up. I took my time finding the right person to lead this team, and I truly believe Paddy’s style will excite the players, challenge them to improve, and entertain the fans. His energy and creativity will make training fun while helping the squad develop and reach their potential."

Ales Padelek added: “I’m honoured to be given this opportunity with the Drive Bristol North Pitbulls. This is an ambitious club with great fans and strong community support. I look forward to bringing my experience and passion to the role and helping the team compete at the highest level."

With a new sponsor, a fresh look, and a new Head Coach, the Drive Bristol North Pitbulls are set for an exciting season both on and off the ice.
